After the big GRC expansion in 3.4, COD 3.5 tackles two things that make a real difference in day-to-day operations: a network topology that finally shows real relationships, and evidence you can put in front of an audit without breaking a sweat.
The Layer 3 Map Now Shows Real Routing
- Firewalls as Nodes: Enabled OPNsense firewalls appear on the L3 map with their own icon and their interface networks. The edges to switches and routers are drawn from real data (shared interface subnets, MAC forwarding tables, and LLDP neighbors), and every edge is labeled with the connecting subnet.
- IP Search Across Firewalls: Search for an IP on the L3 map and COD highlights every device whose interface network contains that IP. That way you can see at once where a network is routed.
- Topology at the Push of a Button: Admins invalidate the map cache with a refresh button and rebuild the map right away, instead of waiting for the automatic rebuild.
The 3.5 point releases added a simulated route trace and a VLAN path check on the L2 map.
GRC Meets Network
The beauty of a platform: modules talk to each other. In 3.5, you embed a live network topology directly into a GRC document. A simple cod-topology block renders the interactive L2 or L3 map inline. On PDF export, the map lands in the document as a crisp vector graphic, not a screenshot. On top of that: a re-check activity can be scheduled straight from a document, and Mermaid diagrams now work in GRC documents.
Reports and Export
All PDF reports are now typeset with LaTeX instead of jsPDF. The result is noticeably cleaner and prints sharp at any zoom level. Before exporting network and report PDFs, a shared dialog asks for the TLP level and page format.
Traceability
COD gains a platform-wide audit log as its foundation, including a dedicated viewer under Admin → Audit Logs. If you need to prove in an audit who changed what and when, you'll now find the answer in one central place.
Backup You Can Actually Look Into
The directory backup (ACB) now has a preview: you see individual files in the backup, open them, and download specific files or entire subfolders on demand, the basis for a clean, targeted restore.
And the Finishing Touches
Global search has been reworked and now covers more objects. Branding presets can be saved, edited, and reset to default. A soft lock shows who is currently working on a document. When acknowledging a monitoring problem, you can link a ticket. And there's a dedicated page for the open-source licenses.
